Why did we decide to leave the film on every Goalies card? The answer is simple: we wanted the cards featuring our “masked men” to reach you in the best possible condition.

The transparent inserts are printed on a specific type of plastic that is more susceptible to mechanical damage. The material has plenty of advantages too, so rather than abandon it, we chose a different solution. That solution is, as you have probably guessed, protective film. We strongly recommend peeling it off after taking the card out of the box or pack and then storing the card in an album. Its job is done; the album takes over as the bodyguard. We deliberately printed nothing on the protective layer. We rejected the North American approach, where labels such as “Peel Off” are sometimes printed on it. The result there? Some collectors refuse to remove the film because they do not want to disturb the card’s original condition, and therefore never fully enjoy its design. That is a shame, especially with beauties such as 1997 Totally Certified.

So we did it differently. We wanted the film to look like something you would happily remove – automatically, just like the protective layer on a new watch. We did not want you to face even the slightest dilemma: peel or not peel? Do not worry about it. Remove the film and enjoy Goalies in all their glory.
