JAKUB LAUKO – WHY COLLECT HIM?

Do you know Jakub Lauko? No, he is not Finnish! ???? This Czech hockey talent is very interesting from a trading-card collector’s perspective – what North Americans would call a “hot prospect”. This likeable young player is worth collecting from the very beginning of his career. His cards are still reasonably priced, and there are not yet so many of them that building a focused collection becomes difficult.

Jakub’s career could develop very promisingly. We rate his chances highly – he is another of Czech hockey’s exciting prospects. A few facts: Jakub Lauko scored his first Czech Extraliga goal for Piráti when he was just 16 years, seven months and 21 days old! He is still eligible for U20 hockey but has already taken part in a preparation camp with the senior Czech national team. On skates he is a rocket, one of the fastest players in the Extraliga, and this year he was drafted 77th overall by the Boston Bruins (NHL).

When I spoke with him briefly at the senior national team camp in Přerov while he was signing his cards, he was delighted to receive some cards for himself. He said his father would be especially happy because he collects them and had been ordering packs from the national team fan shop. In our view, it is a positive decision that Jakub stayed in senior hockey rather than signing with Boston immediately, where he would most likely have gone to the farm team. Instead, he remained in Chomutov, giving us an excellent opportunity to continue following his development closely.
